Links that are not followed frequently gradually change to black.
Instead of being just part of the text that matches a regexp, each link is a first-class object (presumably in an OID-like system to avoid namespace clutter). This could be done either by using a special editor, by having a specialized diff tool, or by simply embedding link IDs in the text (like PurpleWiki’s NIDs). Each link would have an associated table of recent follows. The link color would be based on the frequency of link-followings, possibly relative to other links on the page. Perhaps users could be grouped based on link-following habits. This could potentially be combined with more explicit rating systems.
This sort of feature might be helpful on densely-linked sites like EverythingTwo.
Each page has lists of the most popular outgoing and incoming links. I think that PhpWiki has something like this.
