The idea is to use the framework defined by RFC 2141 (Uniform Resource Names) and RFC 2611 (URN Namespace Definition Mechanisms) to create an URN namespace for Wiki resources.
This would allow short and portable names for wiki resources that aren’t tied to a particular resolution mechanism. A possible format would be:
urn:x-wiki:name-of-wiki:name-of-resource
…where urn is a fixed string for all URNs, x-wiki is the proposed experimental namespace, name-of-wiki is the name of the wiki from some wiki InterMap, and name-of-resource is the page’s name within that wiki.
For example:
urn:x-wiki:Wiki:WikiEngines -> Wiki:WikiEnginesurn:x-wiki:MeatBall:SoftSecurity -> MeatBall:SoftSecurityurn:x-wiki:WikiTravel:New+Zealand -> http://www.wikitravel.org/en/article/New_Zealand| status | wiki engines |
