Almost all the content of this site comes from the original wikifeatures wiki, located at http://wikifeatures.wiki.taoriver.net/ and hosted by LionKimbro.
This clone of that wiki is made with the hope of eventually putting it back at the original address or at least having it used by the original contributors. But if that doesn’t happen, it’s ok, because this is also an exercise at migrating a MoinMoin wiki to an Oddmuse wiki using WikiCreole as its markup – mainly to see how easy it is to migrate to a Creole-only wiki.
Rationale
- The original wiki is becoming increasingly unstable, with periods of inaccessibility and various errors
- There is no RSS feed to subscibe to
- Once the content is translated into Creole, it can be easily ported to any wiki engine that supports it
- Hopefully it will take a while for spambots to adapt and then we can improve the defenses easily
The procedure
- Get the list of all pages from the TitleIndex page.
- Write a simple python script to download the raw content of these pages into files.
- Run some simple search-and-replace scripts to convert the most common markup.
- Modify the wikiput script to upload the pages to new wiki site.
- Run some more search-and-replaces.
- Go through all the pages and correct the markup by hand, remove spam that was posted on the original wiki, copy the pages that went missing somehow and fill the InterMap page.

- Figure a way to get the page list from the original site in SisterSites format and set it up as the SisterSite of this wiki.
- Remove/rewrite engine-specific content
- Contact the original site’s community and discuss what next.
